MEMO FROM NARA

Twelve months of 2005 are coming to an end by this December. NARA’S NOTEPAD was started in an experimental basis in December last year.
The results are very encouraging. More and more people are interested to read and practice some of the personal development resources in order to realize their full human potential. As on today approximately 1500 people are receiving NN every month without delay. Hence there is a great satisfaction for me. Almost all the materials published in NN are liked and picked by me from various sources. All of you also like those materials. Therefore we have a commonality in thinking. Let it continue for ever!

I feel inspiring and motivating some one is a great service. In today’s world of tension, everyone needs relaxation with a bit of motivation for a happy and healthy life. We came across many sad news in 2005. Loss of human beings, animals, property, mental peace, etc., are some them. I am looking toward the year ahead and hope no such tragedies occur.

My best wishes for all of you to have a real resolution for the coming 2006. Hope may it as your goal for the coming year.

JUST TO LAUGH:

1.Two nouveau rich women were competing with each other and one of them boasted: “My husband bought the bed that belonged to Napoleon and Josephine”.

“Oh!” exclaimed the other with disdain. “You buy second-hand furniture?”

2. “Do you think that computers will replace newspapers?” a man asked his friend.

“It’s out of question”, his friend replied. “You can’t swat a fly with a computer”.

EARTHQUAKE An earthquake is a series of shock waves generated following the brittle failure of rocks within the earth’s crust or upper mantle as a result of a build up of stress. Failures occur at a point or in a fairly small zone (focus) with the epicenter being the point on the earth’s surface directly above this focus. Many earthquakes occur each year on an average greater than 800,000, but most of them are small and not felt by human beings. A severe earthquake with a magnitude of great then 8 on the Richter scale can be expected every 8 to 10 years. But a significant number of smaller earthquakes which are still capable of destruction, occur each year.

THEY SAID……

Learning gives creativity.
Creativity leads to thinking.
Thinking provides knowledge and
Knowledge makes you great – A P J Abdul Kalam

Great men are like great mountains and that we do not appreciate their magnitude while we are close to them. We have to go to a distance to see which peak it is that towers above… - Joseph Chamberlain

MEMO FROM NARA

Recently I read a passage in a book. I like to share with you because I liked it for self-improvement.

“On average, the hours we work constitute a relatively small portion of our life, and it should not dominate us. If you are too tired or do not have enough time to do anything in the evenings, then your daily routine may be out of balance and may need to be adjusted. Your work may be too difficult or unsuitable or you may not be making good use of your hours during your day or evening. A good balance of our time is needed for work, goals, recreation and relaxation. The daily routine should be examined, a plan established and then it should be followed”

Hope you also like this passage to follow in your daily life.

SLEEP

Exposure to light stimulates a nerve pathway from the ganglion cells in the retina to the hypothalamus in the brain. There, the supra chiasmatic nucleus (SCN) master clock sends signals to parts of the brain that control hormones like cortisol, body temperature, blood pressure and functions that make us feel sleepy or alert. The SCN also controls the release of melatonin which is associated with sleep and is produced by the pineal gland.

In the evening, the SCN signal the pineal gland to produce melatonin. As the melatonin levels rise in the blood, you begin to feel like calling it a day. Melatonin levels stay high for about 12 h through the night. Bright light inhibits the release of melatonin that explains why it is called the Dracula of hormones.
